If you have read any of my content you have probably gathered that my heart runs deep for all of the mommas out there. And so, this is a post-election letter to all of the mommas, whether you are thrilled with the election turnout or utterly disappointed by it.
My Dear Sweet Momma’s,
The difference that you are making today and the difference you made yesterday has nothing to do with who was or wasn’t elected this week. It is incredibly easy to get distracted by world events regardless of whether we approve or disapprove of them. Your family looks to you for love, attention, nurturing, cheerleading, wisdom, structure, and guidance. The world will do whatever it can to distract and steal your attention from your duty as a mother and a wife. Including: making you question your worth by comparing yourself to all of the other mothers on social media. It will keep filling your mind with lies like if you could look better, if your house was better, or if you were the Pinterest mom, you would be happier and more fulfilled.
The truth is that God designed you with a God-shaped hole in your soul that nothing else can touch. Not a better house, a better government, a better body, more well-behaved kids, or the ability to master your clutter could ever fill this hole. But the world will continue to lie to you and distract you from your purpose to keep you discontent. The lies will keep coming to distract you from raising incredible human beings, engaging in a powerful marriage, and solidifying your family unit.
I’m here to state the truth; mommas, you have what it takes inside of you, with the help of God, to refocus on your purpose. You have what it takes to solidify your family unit, raise incredible human beings, create an amazing marriage, and leave a legacy. But the world will try to convince you that you don’t and steal your joy. Don’t buy into it. God’s got you and you’ve got this.
